Description:
He was posted at Tuikarma Railway protection post under Swapanabari Post, 6th Bn TSR. As a part of routine duty, he along with 07 other were left Tuikarma Railway protection post on 27.08.2007 at 0800 hrs to lay ROP along the Railway track in between Tuikarma Post and Rani Chowmuhani which is about 8 km stretch. When they came to the diversion point of first ROP point two Rfn including Jayanta Roy left the party to occupy the first Rly ROP point located on the southern side of the track at a height of about 100 fits while the remaining Jawans continued to follow the main Rly track to further occupy the remaining two ROP posts normally manned by the said post. But no sooner had the two Rfn (including Rfn Jayanta Roy) climbed to the 1st ROP point they were heavily fired upon by a group of unknown NLFT (BM) extremists who were waiting in ambush in the thick bushes nearby said top of the 1st ROP point. As a result Rfn Jayanta Roy of 3rd Bn TSR was hit by several bullets fired from AK series weapons before he could realize anything, and died on the spot.

Description:
He was performing the duties of escort commander of Commandant’s escort. On 20.02.2006 Commandant, 3rd Bn TSR was returning from PTC, Narsingarh by a escort convey consisting of three vehicles i.e. Maruti Gypsy, Bullet proof commander jeep (Pilot jeep) and a TATA 3 tonner (Escort). There were total 15 Jawans in the escort party including 03 drivers. At about 1645 hrs while the party reached near Chamal Cherra under west District extremist had dropped heavy fired on the escort party. The extremists had taken positions on an extended hillock from where almost one and half KM of road is exposed to the effective firing range of AK-47/SLR and LMG. The topography of the area did not provide any natural cover and the escort party had no option but to try to cross the ambush by continuing to move as fast as they could and by opening retaliatory fire from the moving vehicles, which they did. For almost one and half KM the escort party faced the extremists fire but continue to move forward and ultimately they were able to cross the ambush zone of the extremists and could reach the CRPF camp of Jeoalcherra which is about 4 KM away from the place of ambush. After reaching Jeoalcherra camp it was found that total 06 TSR personnel out of 15 had received bullet injuries and out of three vehicles two vehicles were disabled and were unable to move any further. Immediately injured party was brought to Kulai Hospital from the Jeoalcherra CRPF camp. After reaching to Kulai Hospital first aid was given to injured persons where from they were referred to GB Hospital. Escort commander Havildar Lourentus Soreng succumbed to injuries in the route of G B hospital.

On 17.04.2000 at about 1200 hrs while one platoon of TSR including OC Kalyanpur PS /OC A Coy, 3rd Bn TSR with 12 ors/ Police personnel-08 total-22 personnel led by SDPO, Teliamura were returning after visiting the new post of Santinagar in three vehicles bearing registration No. TR-01/-0971, TRT-2076 jeep and TR-01/ 0820 one tonner of TSR. While the party reached at Santinagar camp tilla katcha road through thick jungle about 15 Km North-East from Kalyanpur PS, a group of extremists (suspected to be NLFT) ambushed the convey by opening chance fired from two directions. The driver of one tonner (rear vehicle) bearing registration No. TR01/0820 lost his balance and fell in a 25 ft. ditch. The convey personnel led by Hav Ranjit Singh immediately got down and opened fire from defensive position. The exchange of fire continued for about 30 minutes. Thereafter, the extremists group fled away. After hearing the sound of firing CRPF platoon reached at spot at about 1240 hrs. In the mean time ‘OC’ A Coy informed to Coy HQr, Khowai and platoon post Gourango Tilla sent re-enforcement which also reached at the spot. Addl. SP west and Dy. Commandant CRPF rushed to the spot and supervised the search/rescue operation. The above Rifleman (GD) Padma Sadhan Jamatia sustained bullet injury alongwith other inmates. Immediately he was evacuated to Khowai hospital for medical aid from where he was referred to GB hospital. But in the route of GB hospital the above Rifleman succumbed to his injury.
