VEHICLE SAFETY TIPS:-

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO...
  • Use securing devices like steering lock, clutch lock, brake lock, etc.
  • Double-check all doors, including the boot
  • If possible, install loud alarm systems in your car, so that thieves can be discouraged even if they manage to break into your car
  • Try and use detachable music systems and take them with you whenever you park the car for a long time, so that there is no temptation for thieves to make a quick steal when they see expensive items in parked cars
  • Paint your car number on the front and rear end of the body, apart from the number plates. Ideally, have it etched on the windscreens and window glasses too. This prevents them from being misused by criminals using fake number plates

WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO...
  • Never leave the vehicle door unlocked, nor the windows partially open. Make sure that the quarter glasses are properly secured
  • Do not leave valuables inside the car, even if it is locked, as this will attract thieves
  • Do not overdo extra fittings, as these tempt prospective thieves
  • Never leave the key dangling in the ignition
  • IN CASE YOUR CAR IS STOLEN...
  • Report the theft to the nearest police station
  • Inform your insurance company

ROAD SAFETY TIPS:-

MOTORISTS

  • Always drive on the left.
  • Speed should be adjusted according to the road conditions.
  • Drive at a safe speed and always observe the speed limit.
  • Always wear your seat belt and ensure that your passengers do the same.
  • Do NOT drink and drive.
  • Follow other vehicles at a safe distance.
  • Do not use a mobile phone while driving.
  • Overtake with care.
  • Do not tailgate.
  • Before you drive a vehicle ensure that:
    • The vehicle is properly licensed,
    • It has a valid insurance policy,
    • You have the valid and appropriate licence to drive the vehicle.

PEDESTRIANS

  • Always cross the road at designated pedestrian or zebra crossings.
  • Always use footpaths where they are available
  • Do not cross at bends in the road where you cannot see the danger of oncoming vehicles.
  • If you are walking in a group, walk in single file facing oncoming traffic.
  • When crossing the road, be attentive and on the lookout for oncoming vehicles.

COMMUTERS:-

  • Always wait for the vehicles to stop completely boarding of alighting.
  • Do not stick out any part of your body when you are in moving bus or car.

3.  CHILDREN & WOMEN SAFETY:-

         No one has the right to tease you or sexually harass you. No one has the right to make you uncomfortable, whether you are at home or on the streets, whether in school, college or in a social gathering.
No one has the right to beat you, torture you physically or mentally, or force use on you in any way. No matter what your relationship is with this person.
        Violence against you is not your fault. Violence is not anyone’s right. Don’t hesitate, don’t be afraid to call for help.
        Call 1091 – 24 hour helpline for crime against women in Tripura and the police will be there immediately to take action. It is up to you to make that call.

NET BANKING PRECAUTIONS:-

  • Always check the URL of your bank's web site.Never enter your user ID or password or such sensitive information without ascertaining that you are on the right web site.
  • Don't use the embedded links in any e-mail to get to any web page. Type the link address (URL) in your web browser.
  • Ignore any e-mail asking for your password or PIN. Neither the police nor Banks ever contact you to ask you to reveal your online banking or payment card PINs, or your password information.
  • Avoid use of cyber cafés / shared PCs to access internet banking site.
  • Update your PC with latest anti-virus and spy ware software regularly. A suitable firewall installed in a computer to protect your PC and its contents from outsiders on the internet is recommended.
  • Log off your PC when not in use.
  • Do not store your ID / PIN in the Internet Explorer Browser.
  • Check your account and transaction history regularly. 
  • Keep changing your password at least once a month. And remember it!
  • If your bank has logged in panel, check the panel whenever you log in. If you notice irregularities (like you are logging in after two days, but the panel says you logged in that morning!), report the matter at once to the bank and change your password immediately.
  • Don't open, run, install or use programmes or files obtained from a person or organization you do not know or from someone who is not a reputed vendor.
